Who is Horus Kol?

Horus Kol is the electronic alter-ego of Stuart Jones.

The Site

This site is a place where I talk about my interests and musings on my work and on life in general. It's also a site that I use to test new parts of my site toolkit that I then employ on other sites.

I'm currently undertaking some refurbishment about the place, so not everything will be available for now (like a proper blog and gallery for now).

This site is built using a framework that I have been developing myself, using PHP and MySQL.

Life Outdoors

I've been involved in Scouting since I was very young, and went on a number of trips with school to the Lake District in the UK as I was growing up.

I have spent a lot of time outdoors - mostly camping, hillwalking, and rockclimbing, but also some skiing, sailing and kayaking, amongst others. I'm taking a short timeout at the moment, but aim to get involved in Scouting again and take on more of these activities again now that I've settled in Australia.

Work Indoors

I have an engineering degree, through which I got my first taste of software development, and this eventually lead to my being a full-time PHP developer.

I've been involved in web-development for about 6 years now, starting with building a company intranet from scratch, and then working a number of technologies which my previous employer utilised in their solutions for building management systems - although I've only really become a full-time developer in the last year since coming to Australia.

Now I'm involved in the development and support of intranets for large international organisations (which is both very cool and very frustrating), and some interesting web-based applications for a wide range of customers.
